The Little Green Apple Interview

By Interviewer at 05/23/08 00:59

Name of your website?

The Little Green Apple

Your name?

Dan

Your Location (city, etc)

Elyria

Please give us a short summary of your website?

A place for lawn and garden enthusiasts to find answers. We've put together quite a bit of information throughout these pages collected from our experiences as well as the authority of Master Gardeners and County Extensions from across the U.S to give you the best lawn care advice available.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I'm very passionate about this subject.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Through a daily devotional you can read on the "About Us" page.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

It's informative without the mundane appearance that many sites display.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I'll probably see if it draws an income from ads to decide any future plans but that's not my objective. I just want people to have fun while caring for their yards and learn some frugal methods along the way.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

For what little I've put in monetarial, I'd say my experience and theknowledge I've gained from the project for out weigh the expense.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would have a lot more content. But that comes with time and everyone of us has all their is. But my 1 year old is demanding much of that. Lol!

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Emphatically yes, as long as it's after hours.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Learning different software and compatibility issues with different web browsers.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting a descent nights rest. But that's common among most new parents.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Meta tag descriptions and keywords are a big part. Getting involved with discussions in webmaster type forums whenever possible is a big help, as well.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

The time consumption factor is way more than I anticipated. Keeping up on fresh topics, adding new content, triple checking usability for viewers takes up much of that.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It's only been a couple of months and I think I'm in it for a couple years at least.

What helps you sleep at night when you consider the condition of the world on the evening news?

Just reminding myself of Who's actually in charge and pulling all the strings. Trusting in God and knowing that through Him everything works together for good really restores my soul each and every night.

What is your website address?
