Polar Palm Palace Interview

By Interviewer at 02/27/08 02:34

Name of your website?

Polar Palm Palace

Your name?

Randall

Your Location (city, etc)

Spartanburg

Please give us a short summary of your website?

My website will give you all the information you'll need to grow palm trees in colder climates where they are not normally seen growing.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I feel that there isn't enough accurate information available to the general population on the subject of growing palms in places other than the coastal areas, in cooler climate zones.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This is my first launched website and it was published December of 2007.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

I wanted a catchy name that also described the content of my site. One thats easy to remember as well.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

This is a gardening website that pertains to pushing the limits of where tropical plants and trees will grow due to colder climates.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

My goal is to educate gardeners who want a tropical looking landscape and didn't know it was possible in their climates.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I will gauge my success by seeing more tropical landscapes farther inland from the coastal areas. Hopefully my website will one day become self-supporting.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I don't thing there would be many changes even with an unlimited budget.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, and I'm hoping that will eventually happen.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

There have been no unexpected costs to develop my website, but initially it was difficult to decide which program to use to create my website and the best way to promote it.

What has been your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge is finding new ways to increase traffic to my website.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Thus far, listing with major search engines and having related websites post a link to my site have been the most successful methods of promoting my website.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I am surprised at how difficult it is to get the word out about my website.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I have been running it about two months now, and if its successful, I will continue to run it indefinitely.

Is this website a business or a hobby?

My website is only a hobby at this time, but hopefully one day it will become profitable.

What is your website address?
